The Echo Chamber has never behaved quite like this before.
It began at precisely 21:09 this evening, I've learned to document these anomalies with scientific precision, though science itself trembles at what I witness. I was adjusting the copper resonance coils, attempting to tune into the frequency that young Hemlock mentioned in her final stream (such a tragedy, that one), when the entire apparatus began to frost over. Not gradually, mind you, but instantaneously, as if winter itself had reached through time to claim the machine.

The temperature in the chamber dropped to -9°C in seconds. Nine. Always nine.

Through the crystalline ice forming on the amplification bells, I could hear them, voices not from our past or present, but from what can only be described as next winter. The temporal displacement gauge, which Josephine installed before her disappearance, spun wildly before settling on "December 21st, 2025, 21:21:21."

The voices speak in overlapping whispers, like a congregation of ghosts holding midnight mass:

"The Frost King stirs in his throne of ice..."

"Nine bells shall toll when the veil grows thin..."

"The Lost Souls know the way, but dare not speak it..."

"When shadow freezes and ice burns black..."

"The gathering comes, invited or not..."

Most disturbing is what I heard beneath these pronouncements, a rhythmic pulsing, like a massive heartbeat made of splitting ice. The Echo Chamber's viewing screen (a marvel of spectral engineering, if I may say so) flickered between images: a crown of icicles, each containing a trapped ghost; our very own Emporium, but transformed into a palace of frost; and most peculiarly, a figure I can only describe as majestic and terrible, seated upon a throne carved from frozen screams.

The Huggable Haunts in the nearby containment room began embracing each other frantically, as if seeking warmth, though they've never shown sensitivity to temperature before. Even more curious, I found nine perfect snowflakes on my desk afterward, each containing what appears to be a single letter. They melted before I could properly document them, but I'm certain they spelled: F-R-O-S-T-K-I-N-G.

The S.H.A.D.E. Machine in the adjacent chamber responded to these transmissions by emitting a warning sequence I've never encountered, three long pulses, three short, three long again. Morse code for SOS. The machine has never demonstrated knowledge of human communication protocols before. What does it know that I don't?

I've cross-referenced these phenomena with the Ravencroft family chronicles. There's mention of a "Winter Sovereignty" in the burned pages of the third volume, specifically in the section Josephine was studying before she vanished. The text speaks of an ancient entity that rules over the spaces between snowflakes, where frozen ghosts dwell in eternal stillness. It comes when called by nine times nine spirits, and its arrival transforms the living world into a memorial of ice.

The Echo Chamber has finally quieted now, though ice still clings to its brass fixtures. Tomorrow, I shall attempt to recalibrate using the harmonic sequence hidden in Christine's eternal knitting pattern (the one that never seems to end, despite her ghostly fingers working ceaselessly).

I've placed warming salts around the Echo Chamber's base, a futile gesture perhaps, but it brings me comfort. The formula came from an old note in Josephine's handwriting: "When winter comes before its time, salt and sage and silver rhyme." I found it tucked inside the maintenance panel, along with a sketch of a snowflake containing an eye.

One final observation: The ghosts in the physical shop have begun to cluster near the heating vents, even those who've never shown awareness of temperature. The Lost Souls, particularly, seem to be spelling out something with their arrangement, though I dare not document it here. Some knowledge is too dangerous for ink and paper.

I must prepare. If these transmissions are accurate, we have thirteen months to ready ourselves for... something. The Frost King's arrival? A convergence of winter spirits? Or perhaps something far worse, a freezing of the very boundaries between life and death themselves.

The Echo Chamber just sparked again. A single word appears in the frost on its screen:

"PREPARE"

I shall hide this entry in the usual place, behind the portrait of Great Uncle Mortimus, whose painted eyes follow visitors with unsettling accuracy. Should anything happen to me, remember: the number nine is both key and lock, and the Echo Chamber never lies, it only shows truths we're not ready to comprehend.

The Matlock Ghost Emporium must be ready. The ghosts are counting on us.

And perhaps, we living souls are counting on them.

[Marginal note in different ink]: The Echo Chamber recorded everything. The full transmission is stored in crystallized memory slot #9. Password: "FROSTWHISPER" but dare not access it alone. Some doors, once opened, let winter in forever.
